Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds and the influences of mothers in society.  The day acknowledges Mom’s good qualities and appreciates the lifetime sacrifices she has made.  Motherhood is a serious commitment, once you sign up for the job there is no looking back.  Take the time and put a smile on your Mom’s face.

The Office will be closed and we will NOT be delivering meals on Good Friday, March 29; however, we will be delivering meals on Monday, April 1^st.

Did you know the ancient symbol for Easter is the butterfly?  In the beginning it is a caterpillar.  Then it appears to die in its cocoon – only to break out of its tomb and emerge as a beautiful living new life.  Rebirth, like Spring, it is the key to celebrating Easter.

Surround yourself with the bright colours of Spring and reflect the joy of Easter Sunday. 

February 18, 2013 is Family Day in Ontario.   LUCKY US.    For the most of us it means a chance to take a breather off work and spend time with the family.  With the cold days of winter, it is a perfect opportunity to recharge your batteries at home. 

Get excited and enjoy Family Day by taking the time to have Canadian fun outside, watch a movie, read or maybe catch up on chores.   Whatever it is, MAKE THE MOST OF IT with people around you.

Brampton Meals on Wheels will be closed and will not be delivering meals on Monday, February 18.

Thanks to the students at St. Lucy’s Catholic Elementary School, Grades 1, 2, and 3 who created Valentine cards to all our clients at Brampton Meals on Wheels.

Our clients will be delighted in receiving this act of kindness in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.

Our volunteer delivery drivers are reliable and dedicated people, to avoid putting them at risk we have cancelled our service for today when the weather makes driving a threat to their safety. 

Please also have your driveways and pathways clear of snow and ice for your driver’s safety.  If your pathway remains full of snow and/or ice so that it becomes a risk for our drivers, we may cancel deliveries until it is cleared.  To contact City Hall to clear icy sidewalks, please call:  905-874-2500.

Brampton Meals on Wheels

 Meals on Wheels would like to recognize the importance of our wonderful past and current Clients, Volunteers, Broad Members and Staff.  In 2011, Brampton Meals on Wheels’ Volunteers delivered an average of 154 meals a day, 5 days a week to over 367 clients totaling 38,666 meals.

 2013 WILL BE A GREAT  YEAR OF EVENTS CELEBRATING OUR MILESTONE

From all of us here at Brampton Meals on Wheels, we wish you a joyous year filled with love and great food.

We want to start the year off with a show of gratitude to the:

 ROTARY CLUB OF BRAMPTON

They generously provided us with a donation to our “SNOW DAY” meals program to compliment the proceeds from our successful Penny Jar campaign.

Our current clients will be provided complimentary meals to be used in the event of severe weather when our Volunteers drivers are unable to deliver meals.

These funds will go a long way in assisting the community of Brampton.  Once again, THANK YOU  Rotary Club of  Brampton.

Put on your Santa hats and come out to the 2012 Brampton Santa Claus Parade.   Did you know that the City of Brampton has been named the “Best Community Lighted Parade” in Canada by the Canadian Chambers of Commerce.

Brampton Meals on Wheels, for the first time, will be participating in this year’s Parade.   The BMOW committee has created something special for everyone to enjoy.   We hope you will take part in starting the Holiday Season by seeking out our float.  The parade draws more than 150,000 spectators and is continually growing each year.

Our theme is “Delivering Holiday Cheer” because “Every Meal Comes with a Smile”.

 If you cannot make it to the Parade, Rogers Cable 10 will be broadcasting the parade live on Saturday, November 17, 2012 starting at 5:00 pm.

GREAT NEWS, Brampton Meals on Wheels was just approved for this years’, 2012 Brampton Santa Claus Parade, sponsored by the Brampton Board of Trade

 Our theme is “Delivering Holiday Cheer” because “Every Meal Comes with a Smile”.

 We are asking for your support for our event.  We are looking to “borrow” items such as Christmas lights, Trees etc. that we can use to decorate our float.   We are also hoping to have this as a yearly event and “donations” of the above items would also be greatly appreciated.

City of Brampton & Brampton Meals on Wheels Celebrates Seniors

A great time was had by all at the Brampton Farmer’s Market in Downtown Brampton on Saturday, August 4th.  We all had a great turnout to the event and our Brampton Meals on Wheels Volunteers and Office team were on hand to say hello to the community.  We also handed out many flyers and samples of our delicious and nutritious desserts and treats.  It was a such a hot day but we kept cool under the Meals on Wheels tent.

We also had a lot of our clients drop by to say hello and compliment us on the service and food quality.  It was a wonderful day to reconnect with old clients and meet new ones as well.  Our Volunteer Drivers introduced us to many of the clients we’ve spoken with over the phone for years but hadn’t met face-to-face before.  We are grateful for the Volunteers who came out that day to help us set up the tent and participate in the Senior Appreciate Day event.  Overall, it was a great success.

A Penny for Your Thoughts

We continued to collect pennies from visitors to our booth to help raise money for our programs.  For those who donated “real dollars”, we thank you even more for your contributions.  All money raised goes to support our programs.

 Our Volunteers were happy to see many of their clients at the Farmers Market and the clients liked it to.  It was lovely to see folks outside their homes enjoying the sunshine and all the fresh food and good things you will find at the market.

Thanks again to everyone that Volunteered, the clients that come out to say hello and the positive feedback we got from the community on our program.  We look forward to participating in the Seniors Appreciation Day again next year.
