23 Jan What do feet, pies and dragons have in common?
…. they all celebrate something special today!
Good fortune and happiness for the Spring Festival!
Today is Chinese New Year. It is the year of the Water Dragon – something that occurs only once every sixty years! The Dragon is the only mythological creature in the Chinese zodiac and carries great optimism and promise for positive change. We wish everyone in our Brampton Chinese community a promising and wonderful year ahead. Happy celebrations. 萬事如意Wànshìrúyì – “May all your wishes be fulfilled”
Happy Feet!
Today is Measure Your Feet Day. If we measure our carbon footprint and our ecological footprint, why not measure our feet too! With a ruler in hand, you’ll be ready for an impromptu visit to the Gage Park outdoor ice skating rink or a last-minute ski trip or a trip to the shoe store to pick out a pair of shoes or boots on sale!
Yummmmmmmy Pies straight out of the oven!
We saved the best for last. Today is National Pie Day. Pies have been around since the ancient Egyptians. The first pies were made by early Romans who may have learned about it through the Greeks. These pies were sometimes made in “reeds,” which were used for the sole purpose of holding the filling and not for eating with the filling,” according to the American Pie Council. Enjoy a piece of pie with a friend or neighbour today.
And that’s the kind of day it’s been. We send warm wishes to our clients and volunteer drivers. Have a wonderful week everyone.
